Kilimo Tanzania Foundation
Kilimo Tanzania Foundation empowers individual and small-scale farmers in Tanzania, enabling them to influence development policies and promote ecological agriculture..
Kilimo Tanzania Foundation (KTF) focuses on empowering smallholder farmers – including women, youth, and farming groups, representing approximately 80% of Tanzania’s agricultural sector – to increase productivity, incomes, and food security. We achieve this through the introduction and implementation of appropriate technologies, innovation and best practices.
To empower individual and small-scale farmers in Tanzania, enabling them to influence development policies and promote ecological agriculture (Agroecology) through capacity building, farmer-led research, advocacy, and networking.
OUR MISSION
To nurture sustainable and viable agriculture practices of individuals and groups of small-scale farmers and the general public and ensure Tanzanians benefit from thriving agribusiness.
OUR VISION
Our Approach
KTF’s work is grounded in the understanding that agriculture is crucial to Tanzania’s economic growth and poverty reduction. While the sector contributes significantly to the national GDP and exports, challenges remain, including access to quality inputs (seeds, fertilizers), outdated farming techniques, and inadequate infrastructure (irrigation, transportation, market access)
Kilimo Tanzania Foundation
Kilimo Tanzania Foundation (KTF) is an independent, non-governmental organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania on June 1st, 2023 (Registration No. 00NGO/R/4732, TIN 172-572-812). Established in 2021, KTF is driven by a commitment to alleviating poverty and hunger in rural Tanzania through sustainable agricultural development. We focus on empowering smallholder farmers – including women, youth, and farming groups, representing approximately 80% of Tanzania’s agricultural sector – to increase productivity, incomes, and food security. We achieve this through the introduction and implementation of appropriate technologies, innovation and best practices.
The Kilimo Tanzania Foundation aims to support small, rural, community based grassroot groups. Most often, these women’s group do not have access to other financial support or do not meet the requirements for larger development programmes. Through small targeted grants the Kilimo Tanzania Foundation aims to help those often left out by larger aid programmes.
